OCTAVIA IMMERSIVE
Octavia Immersive is a mixed-reality and immersive sound design label and production team that welcomes the next generation of spatial sound. We are in the process of developing a new paradigm for creating, one that democratizes access to 3D sound design production. Our device-agnostic, open-source, and browser-based spatial audio authoring tool allows consumers to use our product in their films, games, and albums, and to create new dimensions of interactive listening with us.
This new creators portal expands the type of user-generated content and the pool of makers that can later experiment with their work in a three dimensional sound field. By using our platform, creators are able to develop new workflows and define best practices in spatialized audio production, deepen their engagement with their content, and appeal to the consumer marketplace of mixed reality.

Extended reality technologies, machine intelligence, voice-controlled user interfaces, and enriched data management tools are just a few of the new tools available to today’s music creators and consumers. The NYC Media Lab and ASCAP teams seek creative, cutting-edge concepts that apply emerging technologies to music composition and experience. Are there new modes of composition and creation that can be enabled with a novel application or combination of these technologies? How do these technologies enable and unlock new ways to experience music?
During this 11-week open university challenge, graduate students in creative tech, music, design and technology, and other graduate disciplines will develop project concepts and prototypes that leverage various technologies. Participating teams will be expected to document their workflow, challenges, and opportunities and present and demo their final projects and prototypes. Teams participating in this prototyping program will receive guidance from and work alongside advisors from ASCAP to build solutions and prototypes that address music composition, creation, and experience.
